Cookie and Similar Technologies Notice
WREN TECHNOLOGIES LTD
Trading as Wren Data and Directory Enquiries
Version 1.1 | Effective 5 August 2026 | Last updated 9 September 2026
1. About this notice
This notice explains how WREN TECHNOLOGIES LTD uses cookies and similar technologies on wren-data.co.uk. In this notice, “Wren”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean WREN TECHNOLOGIES LTD. Wren Data and Directory Enquiries are trading names and are not separate legal entities.
Cookies are small data files stored on or accessed from your device. Similar technologies include browser storage, tags, tracking pixels and link-measurement systems. Some are needed to deliver and protect a service. Others help us understand how the website is used and operate only after you accept them.
This notice should be read with our Privacy and Fair Processing Notice.
2. How we use these technologies
2.1 Strictly necessary technologies
Strictly necessary technologies support the operation and security of the website and remember your privacy choice. They may operate without optional cookie consent where their use is necessary to provide a service you requested, transmit a communication, protect a service or record your cookie preference.
We use Cloudflare to deliver and protect the website, including web application firewall and related security services. Cloudflare Turnstile may be used on protected forms to distinguish ordinary use from automated abuse. A security cookie may be set if Cloudflare needs to issue or remember a challenge or clearance decision.
We store your optional Google measurement choice in your browser under the name wren-cookie-consent. This is a local-storage item rather than a conventional cookie. It records whether optional Google measurement was accepted, the date of the choice and the consent-record version. The website treats the choice as valid for approximately six months before asking again. If browser storage is unavailable or the record cannot be read, optional Google measurement remains denied.
2.2 Analytics and advertising measurement technologies
We use Google Analytics to understand visits and use of the website, and Google Ads measurement to understand advertising performance. These optional Google technologies operate only after you select Accept all on our cookie banner. They remain disabled if you select Reject optional or do not make a choice.
The website uses Google Tag Manager container GTM-MLHV6ZQC to control Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement tags. Our consent configuration sets analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization to denied before the tag manager loads. When you accept optional Google measurement, the website updates those consent signals to granted.
Google Analytics may use cookies beginning with _ga, including a property-specific _ga_ cookie, to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. Google Ads measurement may use cookies beginning with _gcl to measure advertising interactions and conversions. These cookies can remain for up to two years, subject to Google’s controls, browser settings and our deployed configuration. Rejecting or withdrawing optional Google measurement causes the website to deny further analytics and advertising storage and attempt to remove _ga and _gcl cookies set for the website.
We do not use Google Signals.
2.3 Marketing cookies
We do not currently use non-Google advertising pixels on wren-data.co.uk. Google Ads measurement is described above and operates only after consent.
3. Current technology list
| Technology | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
wren-cookie-consent | Wren | Strictly necessary browser storage | Records your optional Google measurement choice, date and consent version | Approximately six months |
Google Tag Manager, container GTM-MLHV6ZQC | Tag-management infrastructure | Loads and controls configured website tags. Analytics and advertising storage are denied before consent | Page operation. GTM does not itself need to identify you with a cookie for this purpose | |
_ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Distinguishes browsers for website measurement after consent | Up to two years |
_ga_<property> | Google Analytics | Analytics | Maintains analytics session and state information after consent | Up to two years |
_gcl cookies, including _gcl_au where set | Google Ads | Advertising measurement | Measures advertising interactions and conversions after consent | Up to two years, depending on Google’s controls and deployed configuration |
| Cloudflare security or clearance technology, where a challenge is issued | Cloudflare | Strictly necessary | Website security, traffic management and abuse prevention | Depends on the security event and deployed Cloudflare setting |
| Cloudflare Turnstile technology, on protected forms | Cloudflare | Strictly necessary | Detects automated form abuse and supports form security | Limited to the security and verification purpose |
The cookies present on a particular visit depend on the page, your choices, browser settings and whether a security challenge is needed.
4. Information collected
Depending on the technology and your choices, information may include:
- browser and device information;
- IP address and technical connection information;
- pages visited and interactions with the website;
- referring pages and timestamps;
- security and abuse-prevention signals; and
- your cookie preference and when it was recorded.
We use this information to provide and secure the website, remember your choice, prevent misuse and, where you have accepted optional Google measurement, understand how the website is used and measure advertising performance.
We do not use analytics or advertising-measurement information to add you to the Wren business-contact database.
5. Choosing and changing your preferences
When you first visit the website, you can select Reject optional or Accept all. Rejecting optional technologies does not prevent you from using the public website, although strictly necessary security functions continue to operate.
You can change your choice through the Cookie preferences link on the website. Withdrawing consent prevents further optional analytics and advertising storage after the updated choice has been applied. It does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.
You can also delete or block cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Deleting the consent record means we may ask for your choice again. Blocking all storage may affect security or website functions that depend on strictly necessary technologies.
6. Email measurement
Wren uses Instiller to measure opens and clicks in email campaigns. Open measurement may use a small remote image or a similar request when an email client loads content. Click measurement may route a link through a measurement service before sending the recipient to the destination.
Email measurement is separate from the cookie choice made on wren-data.co.uk. Website analytics consent does not provide consent for tracking in an email. Information about email campaigns and your right to object to direct marketing is provided in our Privacy and Fair Processing Notice and in the relevant email.
7. Providers and international processing
Google and Cloudflare provide the website technologies described in this notice. Instiller provides email delivery and measurement. Depending on the service and configuration, these providers may process technical or interaction information outside the UK or permit access from other countries.
Where UK international-transfer rules apply, we use an applicable transfer arrangement. Further information about our providers, processing locations and safeguards is available through our Privacy and Fair Processing Notice or by contacting us.
8. Retention and personal information
The browser-storage periods are described in the table above. Records created from website interactions may be retained separately from the cookie or browser item that generated them. Deleting a browser cookie does not automatically erase analytics or security records already created.
Where information collected through these technologies identifies or relates to a person, our Privacy and Fair Processing Notice explains the purposes, lawful bases, recipients, retention arrangements and data-protection rights that apply.
9. Your rights and contact details
Where this processing involves personal information, you may have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction and objection. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Some rights depend on the circumstances and applicable legal exceptions.

10. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when our use of cookies or similar technologies changes. The version and effective date at the top identify the current notice. Where a change materially affects a consent choice, we will ask for a new choice where required.
